Duties

  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety and fostering social skills

Skills

  • Strong understanding of early childhood education principles, including childhood development and classroom management
  • Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, children, and families
  • Ability to manage behavior positively while maintaining a nurturing environment
  • Familiarity with preschool teaching philosophies is a plus

Afternoon Preschool Floater/Assistant

We are seeking a dynamic, reliable, and flexible Floater Child Care Assistant Teacher to join our team. The Floater Assistant Teacher will provide support in various classrooms, helping to ensure that every child receives the highest quality care and education. This role requires a compassionate and energetic individual who enjoys working with young children, adapting to different classroom environments, and collaborating with a diverse team of educators. The working hours for this position are Monday-Friday 12:00 pm-6:00 pm..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to lead teachers in maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment for children aged [age range, e.g., toddlers to preschoolers].
  • Assist with implementing developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans in the absence of the lead teacher.
  • Supervise and engage children in activities, ensuring safety, emotional support, and developmental guidance.
  • Help with classroom management and support positive social interactions among children.
  • Assist with snack and meal times, toileting, and hygiene routines.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and staff regarding children’s progress and behavior.
  • Provide a nurturing, positive, and respectful environment for children to learn and grow.
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom environments and age groups as needed.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of children.
  • Assist with other tasks such as cleaning, snack prep, monitoring student drop-off and pick-up at the main entrance, and other tasks administered by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
  • Previous experience in child care or early childhood education (preferred).
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate practices.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work in different classrooms and with various age groups.
  • Ability to create a warm and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A positive, patient, and caring attitude towards children.
